The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, by John Boyne, tells the story of

Bruno, a nine-year-old boy who, without understanding the Holocaust or the war,

is forced to leave Berlin and move to an isolated and desolate place.

From his bedroom window, Bruno spots a fence and, beyond it, people dressed

in striped pyjamas that spark his curiosity. During his explorations,

he meets Shmuel, a boy on the other side of the fence who, curiously, shares

the same birth date as him.

The friendship between the two grows amidst childhood innocence, while Bruno tries

to understand the secrets behind his father's actions. A moving fable about

friendship, empathy, innocence, and the horrors of war.
